We know that three wise men came from the East to visit the child Jesus. They were bringing gifts and were guided by a star.
People now think that there was a fourth wise man. But he got left behind and never made it to Bethlehem. What happened?
Apparently at the moment he was to set out for Bethlehem, he met a poor man and stopped to help him. This didn’t delay him too much but then he met another poor person and stopped to help him too.
Each time he set out to see the child Jesus, another poor person appeared looking for help. Eventually, he was so tired he couldn’t go any further and lay down to rest.
When he woke, he suddenly knew that he had been in Bethlehem all the time. In serving the poor he had been with the Christ.
