AUSTRALIAN EXCHANGE DEPARTURES

Four Glenstal Abbey Transition Years headed to the other side of the world to start their Exchanges with their Australian counterparts in St. Augustine’s College Sydney. The Glenstal Boys are Oisin Duggan, Andrew Grey, Rory Hogan and Rory Mulvihill.

This is the eight year of the exchange between both schools. The ties between the schools however go back as far as 1996 when Br. Denis, Leo McGrath and the Glenstal Australian Rugby Tour Party met Tim Cleary who subsequently became Headmaster of St. Augustine’s. St. Augustine’s has billeted each of the the Rugby Tours to Australia and their hospitality to our boys is legendary.

The Glenstal boys were met at Sydney airport by their St. Augustine’s exchanges and their families -see photo attached. They will spend the first weeks with their St. Augustine’s families. Australian schools are presently on their “summer holidays” so, school doesn’t start until the end of the month. Our boys will be enjoying the Northern Beaches of Sydney in the meantime as well as going on some camping trips. We are reliably told that the first stop from the airport was a swim on one of the pristine beaches.

We look forward to hearing of the Australian Exchange experience from the Glenstal boys and they will be writing an account of their travels in Australia when they return from Down Under.
